Award winning journalist & documentary film producer, Jillian Macdonald has
travelled to over 60 countries throughout her career. Managing world tours with the legendary multi-disciplinary dance group LaLaLa Human Steps including guest performances with David Bowie on the Sound & Vision Tour, a stint with Saturday Night Live introduced by the infamous Bette Midler, were all major influences in her work.
When the time came to leave the stage, Macdonad lept into management for the arts which took her across the big pond from Canada to Amsterdam to join Het Nationale Ballet. After 4 1/2 years as Head of Communications & Marketing at the opera house, it was time to leave a desk job & open her own comapny, ConsulArts International. As a consultant in socio-cultural development for major arts organizations such as Conseil des art du Canada,Theatre Instituut Nederland & The Banff Centre for the Arts, Jillian took another leap into outdoor journalism. In 2001, together with award winning photographer Frits Meyst, Adventure4ever was born, where leaping off bridges, jumping out of various flying machines in the sky, solo paragliding, paddling the white waters of the Zambezi River and diving with the great whites was a normal day in the outdoor office.
After publishing hundreds of feature stories, during a time when the world came to a stop for travel, Jillian had the time to reflect on the past, present and into the future for Adventure4ever. Using years of experience in travel journalism and her life-long connection with nature, she decided to change Adventure4ever into a non-profit foundation dedicated to the development of projects addressing the global reality that our environment is suffering; projects that will rejuvenate, regenerate and redesign our daily lives to one of awareness, motivation and the desire to take action - regaining our critical relationship with nature - 4ever.
