High Altitude Performance, Trekking the Silvretta Glaciers, Austria

The Silvretta Mountains are a spectacular range. Though not really suited for regular trekking, the Silvretta offer glacier crossings, alpine climbing and, a favourite for many (including myself) high alpine adventures. Together with a mountain guide we set off to climb the Dreilanderspitze on our way to the Wiesbadener Hutte. There are dozens of rope teams on the glacier. On the way to the Piz Buin we end up in a traffic jam at 'the chimney', which is a scramble through a windy and cold crack in the rocks just below the summit. Should all go as planned, some 100 will reach the summit today.
