Winter Adventure Snowshoeing in the Italian Dolomites

The sky is deep blue, but the cold bites at my nose as we approach the frozen waterfall. The sun does not reach this part of the valley in winter, leaving the snow as it fell, deep powder. We plough through it with the snowshoes, sinking almost to our knees with each step. Surrounding us are the towering rock walls of the Dolomiti Friulane. From the romantic village of Forni di Sopra, we go out daily to explore another of the dozens of treks in the region. The end of each day, exhausted yet exhilarated, we indulge in the exquisite local Italian cuisine, accompanied by the best of local wines.
