Our first evening in the village of Riomaggiore is a delight. Walking along the cobbled streets, the multi-coloured stone houses with shuddered windows are a playground of local culture. With inviting restaurants every few meters and shops fancying everything from the purest of pure olive oils (local of course), to every '5 Terre' liqueur you could imagine. It is a treasure chest of that in which the people of Cinque Terre take great pride. For five days we will hike the famous hills, visit the five terraced villages and indulge in all that represents the hard work of these proud people.
